After working in my communities childcare centre, I was inspired to start my education towards ECE. I applied to Anishinabek Educational Institute. During the two years, I was still able to work in my community at the childcare centre. I was also able to reconnect to my culture in meaningful ways.

Psychology

After completing my ECE diploma, I wanted to do more for the children in my community. So I decided to pursue a degree in psychology. During my time at AU, I continued to reconnect with my culture. I participated in ceremonies and cultural activities. I was also part of Shingwauk Anishnaabe Students' Association for two years. My thesis topic was The Impact of Indigenous Representation in Research and Counselling Practice supervised by Dr. Dave Brodbeck.
